The Vitlycke Rock Carvings, Tanumshede are designated a world heritage site. the earliest carving date to about 1800 B.C. This pendant is based on the bridal couple carved in the upper part of the rock face. The scene is believed to depict a holy wedding or intercourse between the gods of fertility, and its purpose thought to have been to safeguard fertility of the land and people. This ritual was probably carried out every year around 1st May, with cult priests and priestesses replacing the gods. Our version is both beautiful and substantial and heavy piece measuring 6cm (2 1/4 ") tall x 3cm (1 1/8") wide and 3mm thick. Each one is unique. No two are the same.
