Two twelve-sided wooden dice, and between them every character of the Elder Futhark — the oldest runic alphabet, used across Germanic-speaking Northern Europe from roughly 150 to 800 AD. That's 24 symbols in total, split across the pair so nothing gets left out.

People used to cast these for guidance, or scratch them onto things they wanted to last. You can do much the same here: roll one die for a quick answer to something, or both together if you want more of a spread — past, present, whatever framework you use. They work just as well dropped into a D&D session if you want a bit of weight behind a roll, which is honestly where a fair few of these end up.
